Flightless Bird Interview

Back in April I reached out to David Farrier who is a podcaster and documentarian (if you haven’t seen his film Tickled on Max or his Netflix series, Dark Tourist, I highly recommend). He’d done an  episode of his Flightless Bird podcast about Loma Linda and I could hear and feel his fear of death. I emailed him to say I thought he should absolutely do an episode about death and dying in America and explained that I was completing my death doula certification. Never in a million years did I think I would get a response, let alone get to do an interview with him.

A few months later we met on a gorgeous day at Griffith Park and talked death, dying and doulas. He was so lovely and easy to talk to. And now the episode is out! I introduced him to my teacher, the incomparable Alua Arthur from Going with Grace, who he also interviewed, and you can hear me from around 33-38 minutes. I honestly can’t believe it’s real and am just so happy that his big audience will have an awareness of death doulas and the importance of end-of-life planning. And being called a “6-year-old emo” was just the cherry on top!

The episode is available wherever you get your podcasts (including Spotify & Apple Podcasts) and it’s also the first episode of Flightless Bird that has a video component so you can also watch on YouTube.
